Today, my grandpa would’ve been 78.
Back in 1976 my grandfather started Blackrock out of the back of his western store. We still follow his recipe to make the product.
In addition to founding Blackrock and Christian Brothers Western Stores, he was a fire fighter in Pekin, Illinois, for 25 years retiring as a captain in 1992.
Needless to say, he left behind quite the legacy.
The photo above is from 1990 while traveling through Arkansas.
He and my grandma had a shared passion for traveling so it was fitting that my last conversation with him was about motor homes.
We miss him greatly but his legacy continues through each jar of Blackrock that we make. Thank you for supporting our company.
Happy birthday, grandpa!
